Is Your Supplement Routine Actually Working? This Device Will Tell You in 15 Seconds
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

My daily vitamin-and-supplement loyalty is probably more impressive than your longest Wordle streak. Rain or shine, on vacation or on deadline, my vitamins make it into my morning routine, every single day. But I take them with the same blind faith I bring to a new face serum and sort of just assume they’re doing something. Aside from the yearly checkup with my doctor, I’ve never had a way to actually confirm it. That’s the gap Nu Skin’s Prysm iO ($375) is designed to fill: a quick finger scan that measures the antioxidants in your skin to answer the question I ask every time I restock. Is any of this actually working?

Now, the answer is literally at my fingertips. Ahead, how the device works and everything that makes it one of the most impressive wellness launches of the year.

The Benefits of Prysm iO

Created by Rhyz and launched by Nu Skin, Prysm iO takes the kind of measurement that once required expensive lab equipment and trained technicians and shrinks it into a minimalist handheld disc.

Using it really couldn’t be simpler. I went from unboxing to my first scan in a matter of minutes. Just rest your fingertip over the lens, and after the LED lights circle for 15 seconds, a single flashing light reveals your “Prysm Score” color zone.

Nu Skin

Behind that score is the brand’s patent-pending Spectral Rai technology, which uses AI to turn more than 100,000 light measurements per scan into one easy-to-read number. From there, the companion app tracks your scores over time, so you can see how antioxidant-rich foods, lifestyle tweaks and supplements move the needle.

And those numbers aren’t just for show. Researchers across three countries have studied the device, including High Point, NC dermatologist Zoe Draelos, MD, whose lab study compared Prysm iO readings with participants’ blood carotenoid levels and found the two were strongly and consistently linked.

Nu Skin’s own 12-week placebo-controlled study shows it picks up real change, too: In a trial using an earlier version of the device, participants taking a multivitamin saw their scores climb an average of 46 percent. The brand has also certified supplements like LifePak and Beauty Focus Collagen+ that are clinically shown to raise your score.

So what do you do with your score? Each scan lands in a color zone, and the app turns your results into personalized suggestions. If yours is lower than you’d like, the fix is fairly intuitive. Start by eating more colorful fruits and vegetables, and make exercise, sleep and stress management a priority. You can also add one of the Prysm Certified supplements to your routine. But change won’t happen overnight, so regular scans are the best way to track your progress over time.

The Bottom Line

If your vitamin routine is as non-negotiable as mine, Prysm iO finally puts the worrying to bed. No more guessing whether my supplements are actually making a difference. Just 15 seconds and a finger scan, and I can see whether my routine is pulling its weight.
